The Gentle Return: An Offering of Rest and Ritual
Root & Mind
Following the theme of The Gentle Return which Ati will be offering this year at The Harry Edwards Foundation, this is a guided gathering devoted to rest, grounding, and gentle restoration.
This particular offering focusses on the root of the body and the settling of the mind: the foundation that supports our sense of safety, stability, and belonging. When the root is supported, the nervous system can soften, and the mind can begin to rest.
Through gentle somatic body practices, we will invite slow, respectful movement and awareness to the base of the spine, encouraging the release of stagnant or held energy. These practices are subtle and grounding, allowing the body to lead at its own pace, without force or expectation.
From this place of embodied support, we will transition into a longer yoga nidra–style guided rest, offering deep nourishment for the mind. This extended visualisation invites the brain and nervous system into a state of profound calm, supporting clarity, steadiness, and inner quiet.
Everything offered is invitational and designed to cultivate a sense of safety, containment, and being held.
This is not a space to strive or achieve.
It is a return to the body as a home, and to rest as a necessity.
You will be further nourished with a warming cup of golden milk and a homemade sweet treat inspired by Ati’s mother, Fatma, offered as a gesture of care and comfort.
About your guide
Ati is an integrative and intuitive practitioner of wellbeing practices, drawing on methods she has used and refined over many years to support her own mind and body through periods of illness, transition, and deep change. Her work is shaped by growing up within a community that valued care, presence, and shared practices, early experiences that taught her the importance of rest, listening, and connection.
Sharing these practices is central to Ati’s work and is how she continues to honour community as a living, breathing experience.
Alongside group gatherings, Ati also offers one-to-one sessions at the Harry Edwards Foundation, providing personalised support tailored to where you are physically, emotionally, and energetically. Further details about her work and 1-2-1 offerings can be found on her website – www.surreyhillswellness.co.uk.
