Katie’s passion is a joyful unlocking of all the healing magic that words contain.
With long experience in the delivery of creative writing workshops, she has been a teacher of English at a college of further education, a freelance journalist, and a volunteers’ coordinator for refugees of the war in the former Yugoslavia. A member of the London-based Red Door Poets, Katie is also a keen musician and has pops up at gigs and open mic nights with the harmony combo Fells and Such.
In May she received the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize. Her full-length poetry collection, The Attitudes, was published in 2021 by Nine Arches Press. Awarded second prize in 2019 in the National Poetry Competition with ‘Do not indulge indigo’, she was in the same year a first prize-winner in the Live Canon Pamphlet Competition with My Shrink is Pregnant.
She is a regular volunteer at the Harry Edwards Foundation.
